Neuromyelitis Optica (NMO) is a demyelinating disease of the central nervous system (CNS) of putative autoimmune etiology. Early discrimination between multiple sclerosis (MS) and NMO is important, as the optimum treatment for both diseases may differ considerably. Presently, using indirect immunofluorescence analysis, a new serum autoantibody (NMO-IgG) has been detected in NMO patients.
It is recommended for symptoms such as:Pain in the eyes.Loss of vision.Weakness or numbness in the arms and legs.Paralysis of the arms and legs.Difficulty controlling the bladder or bowels.Uncontrollable vomiting and hiccups.
The Anti-NMO (Neuromyelitis Optica) Antibody/Aquaporin 4 (IFA) test: The measurement of NMO-Ab can be of value in distinguishing NMO from MS when full clinical features may not be apparent and early intervention may prevent or delay disability. This early diagnosis of NMO is critical for avoiding the cumulative effects that result in progressive disability.A number of immunoassays employing a variety of different immunological techniques for the detection of NMO-Ab in patients with NMO have been described.
You will get the reports within 48 hours after the collection of the blood sample.
The cost of the Anti-NMO (Neuromyelitis Optica) Antibody/Aquaporin 4 (IFA) test is Rs.4,700.
The Anti-NMO (Neuromyelitis Optica) Antibody/Aquaporin 4 (IFA) test is prescribed by your doctor after completing the assessment of your condition.
