The Beta-2 Glycoprotein 1 IgA Serum test is used to diagnose antiphospholipid syndrome by identifying beta-2 GP1 IgA antibodies. This Beta-2-glycoprotein I, also known as apolipoprotein H, inhibits the intrinsic coagulation pathway and is involved in the regulation of blood coagulation. Beta-2 glycoprotein 1 has been shown to be the primary autoantigen for anti-cardiolipin antibodies.
There are no specific precautions for this test.
