The glucose challenge test checks your body's response to sugar (glucose). The glucose challenge test is done during pregnancy to analyse if gestational diabetes has developed during pregnancy. The glucose challenge test is performed in two steps. Firstly, you have to drink a sugary solution with the water. One hour later, your blood sugar level is analysed. The results of the glucose challenge test may indicate whether you might have gestational diabetes or not.

The test is generally performed between weeks 24 and 28 of pregnancy.Any family history of diabetes.
The Glucose Challenge Test (GCT) (1 hour) measures:Blood glucose level one hour after the administration of depending on the 50 gm, 75 gm, and 100 gm of glucose solution.This helps to monitor whether the body can utilise or store glucose efficiently. The higher level of sugar in the blood indicates that it is not being utilised or stored. It is usually done as a part of the panel of tests performed during pregnancy and can be performed at any time during pregnancy.
The Glucose Challenge Test (GCT) (1 hour) is prescribed by your doctor after a complete assessment of your symptoms and conditions.
Less than 130–140 mg/dL

This test can be taken at any time during the day.
Fasting is not required for this test.
